Author M. B. H. Hughes will read from and discuss the research for her new book “1777—Danbury on Fire!” during a program Saturday, May 11 at the Lovettsville Museum.

Hughes said the book is geared toward young readers, but historians and genealogists will find many valuable nuggets in the story based on her own family during the Revolutionary War. The book gives a view of the neighbor-against-neighbor grassroots world of the 1700s, where most of the population dread shattering America’s new prosperity. The text includes outtakes from old letters and documents that provide the foundation for the plot’s odd twists.

Hughes will intersperse reading with discussion about the seven years of research she conducted.

The program will begin at 3 p.m. There will be wine and cheese after the presentation.

The Lovettsville Museum is located at 4 E. Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the Lovettsville Town Office.
