Maggie Malick Wine Caves long ago locked in its reputation as Loudoun’s most dog-friendly winery, but this weekend’s Pondfest really lets the canines show their stuff.

Working with Chesapeake DockDogs, the winery on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will host dogs of all shapes, sizes and experience levels competing to jump farther, faster, and higher into the farm pond.

The dog and trainer teams compete in four categories: big air, speed retrieve wave, extreme vertical, and iron dog.

Last year’s big air winner, Ruger, registered a jump of 23 feet, 6 inches off the pond dock, while Gabe—among the top ranked DockDogs in the nation—took the all-round title.

For the less competitive dogs, check out Breaux Vineyards on Saturday for its Dog Day Celebration or return to Maggie’s next weekend for Muttfest, a more low-key playdate for the non-kennel club set.
