Normally, Mike Richards, Jay Powell and Stuart Frye would among those performing on one of the stages inside Spanky’s Shenanigans, but on Wednesday evening they were line up on the sidewalk out front of the Leesburg live-music hotspot.

The restaurant, with support from member of Ignite Church, turned that night’s carry-out meal pick-up into a concert for diners—and an opportunity for the out-of-work performers to pick up some tips.

Owner Asmi Zaru was hopeful of opening up its outdoor dining area today, but those plans were put on hold when Loudoun’s Board of Supervisors requested a delay in Phase 1 re-opening of businesses. Like most restaurants, Spanky’s Shenanigans has laid off much of its staff and has relied on community support through carry-out orders to help pay the bills during the pandemic.
