Welcome to the weekend, Loudoun! We’re in for a brief reprieve from winter’s recent bitter cold—Saturday’s the day to Get Out (!) for a bit of seasonal, and musical, fun!
Begin your day at Village at Leesburg‘s mesmerizing Winter Ice Fest! Throughout the day the center will feature exciting winter-themed activities, including the opportunity to skate on an “iceless rink.” Of particular interest are the activities of eight world-class ice carvers, who will be on site, whittling away at giant blocks of ice to create amazing works of art in competition for prizes and bragging rights. The action gets underway at 9 a.m. with festival events set for 1 to 5 p.m.—click here for details.
Then, after dinner, head west to the Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards for the second installment of this season’s Songs, Stories and Gas Money series. This time ’round, the very talented Taylor Carson will take the stage, his first time featuring in the SSGM roster. Carson is a familiar voice around the Northern Virginia/DC performance circuit, but Saturday evening’s show will offer audiences a peek behind the singer/songwriter’s process and lived experiences. Enjoy delicious wine and snacks as Carson reveals the tales behind the tunes, as well as gorgeous versions of the songs themselves. Doors open at 7 p.m., with music beginning at 8 p.m.—tickets are $15 per person and reserving your spot in advance is strongly recommended, as this house tends to pack.
Enjoy and stay warm!
