Is there anything better to do on a steamy summer day than to catch a movie? Tuesday morning Regal Theaters in Brambleton offers an opportunity to pack up the kiddos, settle into the A/C and enjoy being transported to another world via the bright, big screen.
Each Tuesday and Wednesday through August 9, Regal will screen two kids’ movies with tickets priced at just $1 per person. This week’s Tuesday feature, “Kubo and the Two Strings,” is one neither kids nor their accompanying adults will want to miss. The 2013 stop-motion film is one of the most creative, mesmerizing animated features to be released in years. Starting Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, George Takei, Matthew McConaughey and others, this affecting film follows Kubo, a gifted storyteller whose enchanted origami characters draw huge crowds at the local market. One day, however, Kubo’s tale becomes incredibly real after he finds himself transported to a magical land where an intense quest has been laid before him.
There is so much mystery, mythology and nuance to this story I cannot encapsulate it all here—suffice to say, for $1 per ticket and the chance to spend 100-odd minutes in an ice box that smells like fresh popcorn, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better way to spend your Tuesday morning.
“Kubo and the Two Strings” begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Regal Fox Cinema 16 and IMAX, located in the Brambleton Town Center. Don’t miss it!
